Dear Summer Camp Families,
As of May 25th, Governor Jared Polis has allowed summer camps to begin June 1st, provided they operate with a series of social distancing protocols. We are excited that we will be able to run camps in July, barring a serious outbreak of COVID-19, in which case we will continue to follow the state’s guidelines. You can find a list of the state’s guidelines here: State Guidelines.
What this means for camp this year:
We know the youth of our area are in dire need of connection, nature, and adventure, and we will be providing those at our camps. We are asking that we work as a community to keep everyone safe, so if your family has any potential exposure to or show symptoms of COVID-19, please stay at home. We will offer the richest experience possible, but there will be some changes in our content, to reduce physical contact in games and allow space when we work on skills. We will have more hand washing stations and bathrooms on site, as well as a clear cleaning and sanitizing protocol for these areas.
As Camps are opening up in June we will take this opportunity to connect with other camp directors to see what protocols are most effective to see what we can implement in our camps in July. We will send out an email the week before camps with detailed information about the actions that we will be taking and also guidance for staying safe at home.
Drop-off and pick-up:
To limit the number of people on site at one time, we will stagger drop-off and pick-up times. We will send out guidance about this in the week leading up to camp.
Refunds:
While many families are ready and eager to jump into camp, we also understand that some families have greater concerns due to members of their household that might be at greater risk if they are exposed. To accommodate these families, we will give a 100% refund to anyone who decides to cancel their attendance at camp this year, if you let us know by June 15th. After June 15th, our normal cancelation policy goes into effect.
COVID -19 Cancellation timeline:
If we have to cancel summer camp due to COVID-19, up until July13th, we will refund 100% of everyone’s payment.
– After July 13th, due to investment of infrastructure for camp, we will refund 50%
– After Camps begin July 20th, there will be no refunds.
We have thought long and hard about this, and this arrangement is the security that we need to be able to offer summer camps this year. If you feel like this is too much of a financial risk for your family, we invite you to ask for a refund by June 15th.
This again is where we need to come together as a community. Once camp begins we commit to paying our staff, providing materials, and need to be able to honor these commitments
If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know.
We are thrilled to be able to see your children this summer!
Warmly,
Gelsey and Neal
