Weaving with Friends

By Neal Ritter

One of the great joys of practicing primitive skills is spending time crafting with others. There is something deeply fulfilling about connecting and laughing while our hands are moving. We see this at homeschool programs, teen expeditions to the wilderness, and workshops.

Recently, Gelsey has teamed up with the lovely folks at Dharma’s Garden, a local farm in north Boulder to offer willow basketry workshops. There have been a series of workshops offered, with the same students returning time after time, deepening their skills and connection to working with willow.

It is easy to imagine that this scene has been repeated thousands of times, by thousands of hands around the world. Sitting together, surrounded by food growing. Weaving with friends.
